This is a photograph from E. A. Brown's collection. It shows a number of boats and launches at the New Year Sea Sports. The annual regatta is held at the Singapore Harbour, off Collyer Quay. The Varuna can be seen in the back ground on the right. Varuna, the Singapore Harbour Board service tug serves as the regatta’s Committee Boat. Several buildings can also be seen in the background, like the new Municipal Building and the spire of St Andrew’s Cathedral. The Hotel de L’Europe has been demolished, therefore the photograph probably dates between 1935 and 1937. No creation date provided. Title devised by Library staff.
