This is a photograph from E. A. Brown's collection. Taken from the Fullerton Building, the picture shows spectators at the New Year Sea Sports, on 1 January 1939. The annual regatta is held at the Singapore Harbour, off Collyer Quay. The spectators are standing on the pavement along the road between the building and the sea. Rickshaws are also seen on the road, in the foreground. A hand-written note on the back of the photograph reads: “1.1.1939”. Date of creation estimated. Title devised by Library staff.
