Abstract
Series explores the transformation of the architecture landscape in Singapore, from early buildings like the Singapore Conference Hall through to the architects' translation of visions to ideas for the Marina Bay for "a city within a city". We take a look at the history of the buildings and some of the people involved in their design, restoration and conservation. Episode 3 looks at the confidence in local designers and developers that have led to the building of icons such as the Esplanade Theatre on the Bay and the Central Fire Station Extension, with its sensitive blend of old and new. The other important landmarks are the Singapore Power Building and the Odean Tower Extension.
