This is a photograph of Merdeka Bridge along the Nicoll Highway. Merdeka means "freedom" in Malay and the bridge in mid-1950s era, symbolised the peoples' pursuit and spirit for independence. Photograph shows the two "Lion Monuments" that once stood at each end of the bridge. Photograph donated by Leong Keng Wai and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008. HRS3_468.
