This 1982 photograph depicts Lorong 25 Geylang, towards Sims Avenue. It shows a view of shophouses and parked vehicles along one side of the road. The building is supported by Corinthian columns and pilasters, with French windows with timber louvers on the upper storey. There is a five-foot-way formed by the projecting upper floor and acts as a covered passageway for pedestrians. Other commercial buildings can be seen in the left background. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
