Information About

This 1967 photograph shows a couple performing the traditional Chinese tea ceremony at donor Koh Tiang Thai's brother's house. Tea ceremonies are typically conducted in the couple’s homes where both bride and groom will serve tea to parents and elders in the family. In return, the newlyweds will receive red packets (hongbao) containing money or jewellery which are placed on the platter which holds the teacups. Donated by Koh Tiang Thai, and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008. HRS3_080. Title devised by Library staff.
