This 1980s photograph depicts Hotel Rendezvous, which is a mix of old colonial and modern architecture. The Rendezvous Restaurant, well known for its nasi padang, is prominently sited on the ground floor of the older 3-storey art deco building. Above the older building is a large neon sign advertising the Nikon trademark. This type of billboard advertisement is reminiscent of those seen in the 1960s through to the 1980s.
