Shown in this photograph are houses in the Pulau Semakau fishing village. They are perched on stilts elevated over the water. The island is presently a landfill set up by the Singapore Government in 1999. This village comprised of a small community of subsistence fishermen who made a living off the nearby reefs. Photograph donated by Soh Ek Chor and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008. HRS3_629. Title devised by Library staff.
