This is a photograph of a Chinese lady doing her washing near a water well that is operated with the use of taps and hoses. This photograph depicts rural living in Kampong Jalan Ulu Sembawang where people draw their water supplies from a common source. In the days when there was no running water, families depended on wells for their drinking water and for washing. Photograph donated by Tang Kian Cheong and displayed at the Heritage Roadshow 2008.
