The Sri Mariamman temple was established by Indian pioneer Naraina Pillai (or Narayana Pillay) in 1827 and is dedicated to Sri Mariamman, the great goddess worshipped for health and prosperity. It shows details of colourful ornate figurines representing gods and goddesses in the Hindu religion. The figurines are arranged in steps and their colours contrast with the dark grey exterior wall of the entrance. Title devised by Library staff.
