Vol.II begins with a chapter discussing the introduction of Islam, religious antiquities and sculpture, temples and ruins. The rest of the volume is devoted to the history of Java in two periods, from ancient times to the establishment of Islam and from then to the arrival of the British forces. An appendix includes diverse topics such as the unhealthiness of Batavia and an account of the Japan trade, including statistics.
