About the Programme

Come immerse in the magical world of beetles and spiders through the lens of the Woodlands Botanical Garden! Did you know that not all ladybugs are red and black? Did you know that the various threads in a spiderweb have different functions? How about the spider that looks like our favourite seafood? Join us as we give you the answers to these questions and pay homage to the intriguing beetles and spiders of Woodlands Botanical Garden!

About the WBG-NLB Biodiversity Series

The Woodlands Botanical Garden (WBG) is Singapore's largest community garden and the only one dedicated exclusively to biodiversity. Spreading over 4000 sqm in size and spanning 9 storeys in height, it is home to a large variety of biodiversity and what used to be a barren hillside is now teeming with life, boasting more than 300 species of plants and more than 200 species of animals. Join us in this WBG-NLB Biodiversity Series as we learn more about the WBG and the biodiversity she supports, from butterflies and bees, to dragonflies and birds, and even beetles and spiders!

About the Speakers

James Khoo is the managing director of The Curious Pangolin, a film and biodiversity consultancy. His work is centered on soil-based agriculture and its interaction with insects and other arthropods. He also collaborates with farmers and educators to raise awareness about insects.

Finn Tan is a macro photographer with a particular interest in invertebrates, such as treehoppers and spiders. He hopes to contribute to enhancing the taxonomic information of local invertebrate species and to publish a guide book in the future on our local species.
