Sign up for Membership

You may sign up for library membership online at your convenience. Explore the different membership types, privileges and applicable fees. Alternatively, you may visit any public library (except library@chinatown) to seek staff assistance from 11am - 6pm to sign up in-person.

For new registration of all memberships or renewal of foreign membership, relevant document(s) must be valid for at least three months at the time of registration/renewal.

Relevant documents may include:

a) Singapore Citizens

  • Birth Certificate & one parent's NRIC (for children 0 to 6 years old)
  • MOE Smart Card or Birth Certificate & one parent's NRIC (for children 7 to 14 years old)
  • NRIC or Passport or Citizenship Certificate (for those 15 years & above)

b) Singapore Permanent Residents

  • Birth Certificate & one parent's NRIC (for children 0 to 6 years old)
  • MOE Smart Card or Birth Certificate & one parent's NRIC (for children 7 to 14 years old)
  • NRIC (for those 15 years & above)

c) Foreigners residing in Singapore with a valid document (validity of documents must be at least 3 months)

  • Student Pass
  • Work Permit
  • Employment Permit
  • Dependant Pass
  • Special or Visitor’s Pass

Singaporeans, Permanent Residents and Foreigners residing in Singapore with a valid document with a Singpass account may sign up for library membership at https://account.nlb.gov.sg

Foreigners residing in Singapore with a valid document and with a Singpass account may sign up and/or renew their annual or monthly library membership online. For new registration or renewal of membership, relevant document(s) must be valid for at least three months at the time of registration/renewal.
