In February 1979, plans to introduce the iconic orange dragon playground at Toa Payoh Lorong 6 were announced. Designed by Khor Ean Ghee, a former interior designer, the mosaic pattern is made with terrazzo tiles, selected for their lasting vibrancy. It was the first of five miniature “adventureland” playgrounds across Singapore, created for children’s imaginative play. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sources: National Heritage Board. “Toa Payoh Dragon Playground.” Roots.; “Five ‘adventureland’ playgrounds soon.” Straits Times, 1 February 1979, 5.
