Abstract
书生刘彦昌(尤敏 饰)邂逅了华山圣母(葛兰 饰)，两人相爱之后诞下一子, 取名为沉香(林翠 饰). 凡人和神仙之间的结合是不被允许的, 二郎神(赵雷 饰)带着哮天犬下凡来到了刘彦昌家里, 抓走了圣母, 为了惩罚她, 把她压在了华山之下. 之后, 刘彦昌又娶了王桂英(王莱 饰)为妻, 两人生下了第二个儿子秋儿. 沉香得到了霹雳大仙的真传, 脱胎换骨,拥有了仙力, 之后, 他前往华山, 去寻找自己的母亲. 途中, 二郎神百般阻挠, 甚至拿出了神器宝莲灯相逼, 但是最终, 沉香还是战胜了重重困难, 夺得了宝莲灯, 用斧头劈开华山, 救出了母亲.
