Abstract
A compilation of documentaries and experimental films in a set of DVDs. 'Innocent' is a personal documentary about a family tragedy. The filmmakers take a journey into the hearts and minds of the people who are left behind to make sense of an unwarranted death. In 'Majidee', two men meet in transit from Kuala Lumpur's Puduraya to a train station. Can there be trust between strangers? Inspired by a poem by Singapore poet Cyril Wong, 'One track vision' takes a look at the idiosyncratic moments of life. 'Red' explores the colour, red, using 100 feet of film and no edits, evoking the emotion of time past. 'Exodus' is set against the backdrop of the dominant Javenese culture, and the story deals with the aspirations and identity of two women, each gambling for a better life in a post-Suharto era.'Hungry?' takes a look at consumerism is in the face of all world's problems. 'Kamunting' addresses the issue of whether photography is permitted in a vist to a prisoner detained under Malaysia's notorious Internal Security Act. In 'Locust', a momentary encounter evokes both a sense of fondness and bitterness of the heart. Moving and lyrical, the film's Hong Kong backdrop hightens the emotive narration.
