This photograph shows a general view of Ampang Park Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Constructed in 1973, this project was the first shopping mall in the city and it pioneered the rise of shopping centers nationwide, transforming Malaysians' shopping behaviors. Situated on a 1.8ha plot at the Jalan Ampang and Jalan Pekeliling junction in the trendy Ampang residential area, Ampang Park featured numerous shops, a 450-vehicle carpark, a kids' playground, and a theatrette. Tan Sri Low Keng Huat and his brothers who built the People’s Park Complex in Singapore were the brainchild of this project. Ampang Park closes its doors in 2018. It was then demolished and replaced by the Ampang Park LRT station.
