This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Dr. Tan Cheng Bock (陈清木), People's Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament for Ayer Rajah Constituency from December 1980 to 2006. He was a student at Radin Mas Primary School and Raffles Institution (1955-1960), and he graduated in Medicine from the University of Singapore in 1968. Dr. Tan served as Board Member of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (1983-1985) and Land Transport Authority (1995-Sep 2005); Director of Singapore MRT Limited (1985-1995); Chairman of the Feedback Unit Supervisory Panel, Ministry of Community Development (1987-1989) and Bukit Timah Community Development Council (1997-2000); Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education (1987-1990), National Development (1991-1995) and Environment (1995-1997); Member of PAP Central Executive Committee (1987-1996); President of Jurong Country Club (Jun 2006-to date); Non-Executive Chairman of Chuan Hup Holdings Limited (Jan 1991-to date), Jurong Medical Centre Advisory Committee (2006) and West Coast-Ayer Rajah Town Council (2001); and Vice-Chairman of South West Community Development Council.
