This photograph shows National Day Parade (NDP) performers with rickshaws on the road. The performance featuring hand-drawn taxi-cabs of early Singapore is part of the 1984 NDP celebrations. The performance is reminiscent of Chinese labourers who worked as rickshaw pullers. Seated in each rickshaw is a passenger as pullers draw the two-wheeled cart using the long shafts protruding by the wheels. Physical dimensions of original: 35 mm. Title devised by Library staff.
