Information About
This 1995 photograph shows the steps leading to the Bukit Batok Memorial, located at the Bukit Batok Hilltop (present day Bukit Batok Nature Park), on Lorong Sesuai. The Memorial, which consisted of Syonan Chureito and the British Memorial Cross, was built during the Japanese Occupation to honour the dead soldiers of the Japanese and British forces. However, Syonan Chureito was destroyed and the British Memorial Cross was removed from this site after WWII, with only this flight of steps remaining. Lorong Sesuai is located off Old Jurong Road, in the vicinity of Bukit Batok district. Title devised by Library staff.
