This 1967 photograph shows part of the neo-classical Palladian Empress Place Building, close to the Singapore River. In 1967 (the year image was taken) the building was still used by various government offices, like the Immigration Department, the Registry of Births and Deaths, and the Singapore Citizenship Registry. From 1989, it was the Empress Place Museum, before becoming the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) in 2003. It was gazetted as a national monument on 14 February 1992. Title devised by Library staff.
