Information About

This is the view from the floor I stayed on in Tembusu College. I stayed here for 2 years as part of the University Town College Programme. When you exit the lifts, this is usually the first thing you see. As I stayed on a lower floor, the view isn’t as impressive as compared to those who stayed on higher floors. I still counted myself lucky that I didn’t get an even lower floor, which would have been at eye level with the forest behind the college. If it was raining heavily, you would definitely get wet if you walked through the main corridor. Because of the shape of the buildings, this area was usually windy, making it very nice to stand in. I used to stand here to feel the breeze and wake up before going down for breakfast. Sometimes, a group of us would sit around the corridor at night and chat. Whoever walked past at the time would get pulled into the conversation as well. -- Contributed by Alyssa Lim Shuyun, as part of the "Young Singapore" Contemporary Collecting initiative. This photograph shows a view of a residential building across the street as seen from one of the floors of the dormitory. Additional description by Library staff.
