This 1950s photograph shows the ship, Empire Colne sailing across the sea in Singapore. Empire Colne was a cargo ship that was built in 1944 which was later renamed Katong after being sold to Singapore. She was then sold in 1971 and renamed Greengate and then renamed Ever Glory in 1972. She was eventually scrapped in 1974. Digitized from an album page containing 7 photographs described collectively as "A life on the ocean wave". Part of a compiled album, with a label : "PHOTOGRAPHS BY : R.K. TYERS. Staff STRAITS STEAMSHIP CO., LTD. SINGAPORE." Title transcribed from album. Date of creation estimated.
