This is a headshot of Chng Seok Tin, print maker, artists and writer. She was born on 6 October 1946 in Singapore. She did her studies in art in Singapore, UK, France and USA, from 1971 to 1985. She obtained two master degrees in art and majored in printmaking from the New Mexico State University and The University of Iowa, USA. She taught printmaking at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, La Salle (La Salle-SIA College of the Arts) and National Institute of Education for a decade since 1986. She held her first solo exhibition in 1979 and her most recent one (24th) in February 2007. She has been an active participant in exhibitions, seminars, workshops and other art-related activities, both locally and abroad since 1979. She has participated in over 80 group exhibitions in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Belgium, UK, France and the USA. Chng Seok Tin is the President of the Printmaking Society (Singapore) from 1997 to 2007 (currently). She is also a member to various arts associations including: Singapore Art Society, Sculpture Society (Singapore), The Artists Village, Very Special Arts (Singapore), NAFA Alumni Association, Singapore Association of Writers and Singapore Literature Society. For her courage and contributions to the arts, Chng Seok Tin was named the Woman of the Year 2001 by Her World magazine, a publication of Times Periodicals. She was awarded the Cultural Medallion by the Government of Singapore in 2005.
