This picture depicts Mr. Ng Chee Khern (right) with his younger brother, Ng Chee Peng (left) standing near block 27, his home at Dover Crescent. Both were students of Hwa Chong Junior College. Chee Khern joined the Singapore Armed Forces in January 1984 and later won the President' and SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1985. He became Commanding Officer of 149 Squadron; Head of Air Plans (Jun 1997-Jun 1998); the twelfth Base Commander of Tengah Air Base (Oct 1999-Mar 2001); Head of Air Operations (Mar 2001-May 2003); Chief of Staff (Air Staff) (Mar 2004-Mar 2006); Director of the Joint Operations and Planning Directorate (2005); Board Member of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (Sep 2005); and subsequently promoted to Chief of Air Force of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (Mac 2006-Dec 2009). He was promoted from Brigadier-General to the rank of Major-General in 2007. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Military) (Gold) in 2005. Chee Peng was awarded the President's and SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1989. He became Commanding Officer of 188 Squadron and RSS Victory (1999-2000) in the Republic of Singapore Navy; Commander of First Flotilla (2004-2005); Director (Policy) (2007); Fleet Commander of RSN (2008-to date); and Chief of Staff (Naval Staff) (June 2009-to date). He was promoted from Colonel to the rank of Brigadier-General and awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver)(Military) in 2007. Title devised by Library staff.
