This is a façade of the double-storey building of Canossa Convent at Aljunied Road. With the help from Canossian Sisters, Reverend Father Stephen Lee Teck Bong, Parish Priest of Church of St. Teresa, established a private Chinese missionary school and an orphanage (Canossian Orphanage) at 1, Sallim Road, off Aljunied Road. It was blessed and declared open by Bishop Adrian Devals on 15 August 1941. In 1951, the missionary school was converted to a Government-aided English school. In 1970, it was relocated to 100, Jalan Merbok. In July 1979, the orphanage was renamed "Canossaville Children's Home". In May 1999, a new complex was built at 1, Sallim Road to house Canossa Convent, Canossaville Children's Home, Canossa Convent Primary School, Magdalene's Kindergarten and Canossian School (for the Hearing Impaired). Past principals of Canossa Convent Primary School include Madam Christina Teo Hau Keng (张孝琼, Dec 2003-Dec 2010); and Miss Grace Tan Lee Yin (陈丽英, Dec 2010-to date). Title devised by Library staff.
