This is a half-length portrait of Sultan Abu Bakar. He succeeded his father, Dato Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim, as the Temenggong of Johor in 1862. In 1885, the British finally recognized Maharaja Abu Bakar as Sultan of Johor. Title devised by Library staff.
