She was Chief Commissioner of Singapore Girl Guides Association (1977-1984); Director of Social Development Unit (1984-1990); and Medical Director of St. Luke's Hospital for the Elderly (1996-1999). Her husband, Dr. Aw Swee Eng, was Assistant Lecturer (1963), Senior Lecturer (1972), Associate Professor (1974-1978) and Head of Department of Biochemistry at University of Singapore (1976-1977); Head of Department of Nuclear Medicine (1984-1996) and Director of Department of Clinical Research at Singapore General Hospital.
