This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Lim Hng Kiang (林勋强), Minister for National Development from April 1995 to June 1999. He was a student of Raffles Institution. In 1973, he was awarded the President's Scholarship as well as the Singapore Armed Forces Scholarship. He became Head of Air Plans of Republic of Singapore Air Force (Jul 1983-Jul 1985); Deputy Secretary (1990), Minister of State (Sep 1991-Dec 1993) and Acting Minister for National Development (Jan 1994-Apr 1995); Senior Minister of State (Jan 1994-Apr 1995) and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs (Apr 1995-Mac 1998); Second Minister for Finance (Apr 1998-Aug 2004); Minister for Health (Jun 1999-Aug 2003), Prime Minister's Office (Aug 2003-Aug 2004) and Trade and Industry (Aug 2004-to date); Chief Executive Officer of Housing and Development Board (Jan-Aug 1991); Advisor to POSBank Employees' Union (1992); Chairman of National Youth Council (Nov 1991-Jun 1998); Director (since 1998) and later Deputy Chairman of Monetary Authority of Singapore (Jan 2001-to date); Director of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation or GIC (2004-to date); and People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC (1991-1997) and West Coast GRC (1997-to date).
