This is a head-and-shoulders portrait of Mrs. Myra Isabelle Cresson, a prominent social worker and one of the founder members and President of Inner Wheel Club of Singapore (1948-1949, 1951-1952). She was Colony Commissioner of the Singapore Girl Guides Association (1957-Feb 1959). Her husband was Mr. Lionel Cresson, President of Rotary Club of Singapore (1948-1950) and Chairman of the Board of Governors, Singapore Polytechnic (Jan 1955-1959). She was conferred the MBE or Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1951 for her contributions in social work. The Inner Wheel Club of Singapore was established in October 1946 and restricted to the wives, unmarried daughters, sisters, mothers and widows of Rotarians. Title devised by Library staff.
