This is a photograph of bumboats, also called twakows or tongkangs, in the Singapore River. The number of boats reflect the hive of activity in the busy river. On the right is a drum with coiled marine ropes, used for mooring boats. Towering over the shophouses at Boat Quay is the OCBC Centre.
