Food for Malaysian cleaners at NUS UTown hostel [2]

"When Malaysia implemented their MCO, the students in our hostel helped set up a system for hostel residents to contribute meals from our meal plan to the Malaysian cleaning staff (who normally cross the border daily, but chose to continue working in Singapore), which helped to offset some of the higher costs of living here."--Contributed by Max Ang, as part of the "Documenting COVID-19 in Singapore" collection community call. This photograph shows a close up of a container filled with packages of instant beverages and biscuits. The food is contributed by students from NUS UTown hostel for Malaysian cleaning staff who are not able to travel back to Malaysia during the pandemic. Additional description by Library staff.
