This is a view of the new three-storey classroom block of Anglo-Chinese School at Coleman Street. Bishop Raymond L. Archer laid the foundation stone on 13 August 1956. The school was declared open by Chief Minister Lim Yew Hock, on 1 March 1959. Located in the premises are a day school, a boarding school, chapel and residence for missionaries. It also houses Anglo-Chinese Middle School (later Oldham Methodist School) in the afternoon. In 1994, the Primary School moved from Coleman Street to Barker Road and formed ACS (Barker Road). In December 1998, the school split into two schools – ACS (Primary) and ACS (Barker Road). Both schools were relocated to separate holding schools while the site at Barker Road was being redeveloped. The Primary School moved to 9, Ah Hood Road on 15 December 1998, while the Secondary School moved to the former premises of Swiss Cottage Primary School. On 4 December 2002, ACS (Primary) moved back to Barker Road and operated as a single-session primary school. In January 2003, ACS (Barker Road) moved back to Barker Road. The new premises was declared open by Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, on 15 July 2003. Past Principals of Anglo-Chinese Primary School include Mr. Lau Hee Boon (Jan 1961-Aug 1967); Mr. Khoo Boo Gay (Aug 1967-Jul 1973); Mrs. Lim Chew Swee (Dec 1973-1976); Mrs. Daisy Ong (1998-2004); and Mr. Richard Lim Chew Hiong (Jan 2005-to date).
