This 1956 photograph is a profile view of actress Li Lihua at Clifford Pier, an embarkation and disembarkation pier located on Collyer Quay. The actress dressed in samfoo, is standing with her hands placed on a young girl's shoulders. Boats at the pier and the arches of the pier are partially seen in the background. During the pre air-travel era and after, the pier served passengers commuting between ships anchored out at sea and the Singapore mainland.
