Dr. Sushilan Vasoo (b.1941) seated in his office. He was Head of Department of Social Work and Psychology at National University of Singapore (1987-1999) and later Associate Professorial Fellow (2006-2010). He was People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Bowen (1984-1988), Tiong Bahru GRC (1988-1991) and Tanjong Pagar GRC (1991-2001); President of Singapore Association of Social Workers (1971-1972); Deputy Director (1973-1979) and later Executive Director of Singapore Council of Social Service (1984-1986); Chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee for Community Development (1997); Chairman of Ang Mo Kio South Town Council (1988) and later Tiong Bahru Town Council; and Deputy Chairman of Tanjong Pagar Community Development Council.
