This 1870s photograph shows a view of the St Andrew's Cathedral, near the Esplanade (present day Padang). There is a handwritten note, "Singapore Cathedral from Esplanade" on the front of the photograph. Named after the patron saint of Scotland, it is the oldest Anglican house of worship in Singapore and was gazetted as a national monument in 1973. St Andrew's Cathedral is now located on 11 St Andrew's Road (next to present day City Hall MRT station). Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated.
