"THANK YOU NUHEROES. Singapore reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19 on 23 January 2020. In response, the National University Hospital (NUH) ramped up its efforts to support our nation’s battle against COVID-19. In addition to ensuring the hospital continues running smoothly while responding to the rapidly developing global situation, over 500 staff from NUH went above and beyond by stepping forward to volunteer to care for migrant workers at the dormitories and a community care facility. DORMITORY OPERATIONS NUH was tasked by the Ministry of Health to provide medical care and support at four key dormitories – Sungei Tengah Lodge, Acacia Lodge, SCM Tuas Lodge and Tuas South Dormitory. NUH teams worked closely with the nation’s FAST (Forward Assurance and Support Team) members, locum doctors and nurses, managing agents and dormitory operators round the clock to ensure the well-being of the migrant workers. Beyond clinical care, many of NUH’s staff volunteers also donated food and fundraised to provide supplies for the migrant workers under their care.
