This is the gate of Queenstown Remand Prison with a clear view of the high walls and watch towers. The prison at 2, Jalan Penjara, off Margaret Drive, was built to replace the old Outram Prison which made way for Outram Park housing estate. It was declared open by Mr. Othman Wok, Minister for Culture and Social Affairs, on 24 September 1966. The prison was closed down in August 2009. Title devised by Library staff.
