This 1982 photograph shows shophouses no. 32 - 36 North Canal Road (between New Bridge Road and South Bridge Road). North Canal Road is named after the Singapore Canal which was built in the early days to drain the swamps. The canal was subsequently filled up to widen the roads. Title devised by Library staff.
