This is a 1982 photograph showing a two-storey shophouse at Hastings Road. Hastings Road is named after Warren Hastings (1732 - 1818), the Governor-General of Bengal, who gave Raffles permission to create a trading station somewhere south of Malacca. Title devised by Library staff.
