This is a photograph of a trishaw driver ferrying his passenger with a trishaw (a bicycle with a side seat and wheel). Rickshaws or jinricksha were brought from Japan via Shanghai around 1880 and gradually replaced by trishaws introduced to Singapore in 1947. Title devised by Library staff.
