This 1995 photograph shows a stream, opposite house no. 503 (Melrose Home under the Children's Aid Society), at Clementi Road. Lush foliage of shrubs and trees can be seen growing wildly on both sides of the stream. Before Clementi Town was developed in 1975, this area was largely filled with kampongs and villages with squatter-type homes, backyard trades, cottage industries and farms.
