This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Chng Tok Ngam, Vice-President of Singapore Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan (1965-1970). He was First Vice-President of Singapore Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (1983-Jan 1984); founder of Poh Heng Goldsmiths and Jewellers (Private) Limited with his father-in-law (1948); Vice-President of Singapore Amateur Basketball Federation (1964-1965), Basketball Association of Singapore (1970-1984) and Chinese Swimming Club (1979-1980); Member of Chung Hwa Girls' High School Management Committee (1971-1972); President of Singapore Chinese Gold and Silver Merchants' Association (1970-1984); and Chairman of Kampong Glam Citizens' Consultative Committee (1968-1974). He was awarded the Public Service Star in 1967. His son, Mr. Chng Seng Mok, was named Sportsman of the Year in 1990. Title devised by Library staff.
