Information About

This map shows the Strait of Malacca, and the outlines of the Malay shore and the Sumatra shore. One can see the Strait of Malacca flowing between Malaya and Sumatra and finally ending at the China Sea. Various settlements on either side of the strait are identified such as Malacca, Queda (Kedah), Perach (Perak) and Salangor (Selangor) in Malaya, and Madang and Bancalis in Sumatra. A smaller map on page 1 shows The Singapore Strait, which runs through Singapore and the Riau Islands and connects the Strait of Malacca to the China Sea. Another smaller map on page 2 shows the passage through the Strait of Malacca from Poolo Iarra to Cape Rachado on a larger scale. The map also highlights the safe and dangerous parts of the strait, as well as features such as islands, coral reefs, and muddy grounds.
