This is an account of the coinage of the Straits Settlements and British Malaya, 1786 to 1951. Included are copies of all the letters, ordinances and proclamations by authority of which the various coins were issued. These are reprinted in appendices, following the catalogue of the coins. In addition, there are also private coins or tokens issued by the merchants of Singapore for general circulation in the Malay Archipelago from 1828 to 1855.
