This is issue no. 10-004 of Research Brief, a research series published by the National Institute of Education (NIE). This series conveys NIE's research findings on education, providing a description of key findings and possible implications for policy and practice in Singapore. This issue contains the research findings of Rose Liang and Mary Dixon with regards to the Singapore teachers' espoused beliefs related to classroom practice, identifying nine belief areas and four common themes across these belief areas, such as the nature of students' academic ability.
