In 1980 the two general unions, SILO and PIEU were reorganised into nine industrial unions. The Food and Beverage Industrial Workers' Union (FBIWU) is one of them. It was inaugurated in October 1981, with 40 branches presently under its wing. Since its formation and inauguration, FBIWU has successfully emerged asa modern organisation to meet the changing needs and interests of its 2,900 members. One of the ways is through the union's welfare schemes. This souvenir magazine is published to enable the union to raise money for its welfare fund so as to enhance its ability of providing mutual aid.
