Balloon sculpting fun at Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA)

Recollection

by SG Cares, Singapore Memory Project

It was an engaging and fulfilling experience for many of us at JF Lennon Institute of Financial Science and the JFL Ambassador Club, interacting with the children from the Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA). We were quick to bond with the children through art and craft and fancy balloon sculpting. Our volunteer, Kia brought many interesting art and craft materials for the children to make colourful sand-filled bottles used for decoration. This broke the ice between our staff and the children. It did not take long for the room to be filled with laughter as we were all enjoying each other's company. The children also tried out some balloon sculpting, taught by our volunteer, Jeff. They enthusiastically followed Jeff's instructions to twist and sculpt the balloons. Jeff specially dedicated some time to make special balloon models for the 30 children present. Everyone went away with a beautiful animal-shaped balloon in their hands. It was heart-warming to see the smiles and hear the laughter of these children. We would like to thank the staff and volunteers for taking time to interact with the children, and are looking forward to more events like this. Mr Jimmy Wong, CEO of JF Lennon summed up the day, saying it was “an absolutely fulfilling experience for JF Lennon to bring lots of smiles and laughter to the kids at AWWA.” Do your part for the society now!
