The General Reference Collection runs a wide gamut of topics across broad disciplines in the fields of the Arts, Business, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Science and Technology. These materials offer researchers multi-disciplinary resources covering both global and Asian perspectives supported by a variety of online databases that are available for use when visiting the Library or remotely.
Accessing the General Collection
The collection is distributed across Level 7 to 9 of the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library.
The public can approach the Level 11 counter to retrieve closed access (RCLOS) materials.

The Arts Collection house an assemblage of over 50,000 print and digital materials on visual arts, art history, digital art, design and the creative industries housed at Level 8 of the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. The Performing Arts collection is housed at library@esplanade.
The Business Collection features a wide variety of print and online data and information including industry & market reports, analysis & research insights, statistics & financial profiles as well as business journals and trade directories.
The Business Collection can be found at Level 7 of the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. Patrons can also gain access to near real-time business information via the NLB's eResources.
Science & Technology Collection
The Science & Technology Collection covers print and online databases focusing on engineering, computer science, information technology, manufacturing, healthcare, building construction and renovation.

Social Sciences & Humanities Collection
The Social Sciences & Humanities Collection covers a broad discipline of knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities. Notable subjects include library and information science, education, literature, history and geography.

The Language Collection is targeted at Singaporeans and researchers who are seeking reference materials in their mother tongue.
The Chinese Collection offers a diverse range of resources on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), literature and the arts, as well as books on the Chinese diasporas.
The Malay Collection has a special focus on language and literature while the Tamil Collection houses tomes on Indian culture, literature, religion and etc.
